The Waste Enforcement Association Australia and Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) have partnered to develop a training course on residential noise enforcement for Council officers in Victoria. This course is aimed at improving Council officers' understanding, confidence, and use of provisions for residential noise under the Environment Protection Act 2017 and its subordinate regulations.

It will help you understand and identify unreasonable noise and the action you can take.

The morning session will enhance your understanding of the regulatory framework and application of provisions for residential noise under the Environment Protection Act 2017 and its subordinate regulations.  

It will boost your confidence in your role as a Residential Noise Enforcement Officers and equip you with the skills to effectively resolve residential noise complaints.  

The afternoon session  focuses on residential construction and demolition noise. The delegated powers from EPA to regulate noise from construction and demolition of residential premises and how you can use them will be discussed. 

Each session will be supported by a panel of experts in residential noise enforcement. Attendees will have the opportunity to clarify the use of their powers, gain insights from experienced professionals, and engage in meaningful discussions about challenges and solutions in residential noise enforcement.

Course objectives include:  

  • Understanding residential noise provisions contained in Environment Protection Act 2017 and Environment Protection Regulations 2021  
  • Increasing your confidence to act as a Residential Noise Enforcement Officer  
  • Increasing your ability to resolve a residential noise complaint  
  • Understanding delegated powers from EPA to regulate noise from construction and demolition of residential premises  
  • Increasing your confidence to act as an authorised officer for residential construction and demolition noise
