About the Event

A rising incidence of dumped soils is being reported, particularly in the Council areas where there are substantial residential developments. The  Environment Protection Act 2017 and subordinate tools requires land managers and waste authorities to respond to dumped soil appropriately.

Dumped soil on Council land may be a priority waste, requiring Councils to follow  a specific regulatory process  including investigating, sampling and classifying soil before they can make arrangements for its removal.

Feedback from member councils provides evidence some Councils are not aware of their obligations.

The meeting will provide Council staff the opportunity to discuss their regulatory obligations, as well as policies and procedures in their Council and to share their experience of working with the new Act at a time when the incidence of dumped soils is increasing.

The event will be hybrid. Please register using an appropriate ticket.
